Here's something this weekend. This seems a bit weird: http://sf.indymedia.org/news/2002/02/116912.php
There's a reason why conservatives typically don't do on the street marches and protests to nearly the same extent that leftists and liberals do, with the exception of out of the loop traditional religious conservatives such as anti-abortion people. It's because conservatives have a much greater power network, and they just need to pick up the phone and call their representatives and get things done. So people trying to pick a culture war in such a simple-minded way don't necessarily strike me as particularly scary or dangerous. but it turns out that it is more than just this one guy in Daly city, but there is a group of them and they are flyering all over the place and totally want to start something at the park on Sunday, so I bet some will be easily baited. (I mean what I say in my indymedia comment. I live 2 blocks away, and there is a guy who dresses like Hitler on my block, and a schizophrenic who thinks my stagehand housemate is the cause of his problems and he called the police and said we grow weed in our yard, and there is a bonafide cult of christian/new agers too).
Christine ------------------------- Hey East Bay foks....
>Chomsky is speaking on "Middle East Peace in a 9/11 World" on Thursday, 21
>March at 7:30 at the Berkeley Community Theatre. Tix are $50 for reserved
>up-front seating plus collector's item Chomsky tote bag, or $20 for open
>seating. It's a benefit for the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA), and
>is sponsored by MECA, Friends of Free Speech Radio, and the American Arab
>Anti-Discrimination Committee.
I think I'd like to see this guy live just for once in my life and I'm also curious about the crowd he draws. I don't know what to say about the tote bag....maybe the least said, the better.
