And I urge everyone to read George Boyer's (1998), "Historical Background of the Communist Manifesto," _Journal of Economic Perspectives_ 12:4 (Fall), pp. 151-74 <http://www.j-bradford-delong.net/20th_Century/refs/Boyer_Manifesto.pdf>. It is, I think, the best orthodox neoclassical historical take on the _Manifesto_ I have ever seen.
