I agree with this, for a number of reasons, one being that if pursued it raises tempers to no good end, another being that it is a topic that simply doesn't fit on maillists (which is why, I suspect, Justin also finds it wearing.) I would like to make a general point (which I won't try to defend at this time and this place) to the effect that two features of u.s. capitalism that are extremely deep are racism and sexism _inside the working class_ -- I suspect they are so deep that large numbers of males (black and white) and of whites (male and female) will not change unless their lives to some extent depend on changing: such as, they find themselves in a conflict where aid of women or blacks is essential to survival.

So we are not going to get _any_ kind of socialism (or at least a working-class capable of managing itself) peacefully.
