I know a young man who had rather foolishly joined the Marine Reserves in 1989 or so -- and who got called up at the time of the Gulf War. About half his platoon was black and hispanic -- and a large share of them were in agreement that they would go along with it "this time," but that they would not serve in any war against Latin American peasants.
