Depends on "which" socialism, no? If some of the stalinists were ever to get into power again, it would PROBABLY mean that he will have to write songs that celebrate the heroic working class and glorify whoever the schmuck is that is the "leader" of the Party and encourage increases of production.

Otherwise, who knows? I would hope that under a more (anarcho)communist form of society, there would be a flourishing of art (without a driving state ideology).

I mean, if people had less work to do there would be less conflict between pursuing art and making a living. As it is, if you have to go and work 40+ hours a week, it is hard to pursue your art, sport, fishing, hunting, critical criticism or whatever, isn't it?
