In early February, the World Economic Forum - an elite business group comprised of representatives of 1000 of the world's largest corporations - will meet in New York City to discuss their free trade agenda. The American Socialist Foundation - a new think tank comprised of artists, activists and academics - will hold its first public meeting, in New York, to discuss the relationship between globalization and terrorism.
Panelists Barbara Garson (author of "Money Makes the World Go Around" and president of the American Socialist Foundation), Doug Henwood (editor of "Left Business Observer") and William K. Tabb (author of "The Amoral Elephant") will discuss the impact of the war on terrorism on the so-called "anti-globalization" movement and its links with the movement for peace and justice in the wake of September 11, as well as the potential relationship between free trade and global economic inequality and terrorism.
