CARACAS -(Dow Jones)- Venezuela's largest private business chamber, Fedecamaras, won't cut the pay of those workers who decide to march Thursday to demand the resignation of President Hugo Chavez, Fedecamaras chief Carlos Fernandez told a news conference late Tuesday. "We'll give permission to those workers who want to go to the march," Fernandez told reporters, adding that this will also be applied for those who want to stage a march in support of the government.
Fedecamaras, together with the nation's largest public sector union, political opposition parties, NGO's and a wide range of civil society groups, are staging a march Thursday to protest overall government policy. They claim the country has become ungovernable under Chavez due to a political, social, economic and military crisis.
On April 11, they staged a similar march which ended in bloodshed and led to the temporary ouster of Chavez, who was reinstated by loyal military troops.
The march is scheduled to end near the presidential palace, Miraflores, where a delegation of the protesters will hand over a document to a representative of the government.
