Anarchists are socialists (libertarian socialists), and the most consistent socialists, I'd argue. Impersonating "fellow socialists" is no different then impersonating "fellow bolsheviks". The idea that it's okay for Cuba to trade civil liberties for security is the same BS that Bush uses to push through things like the PATRIOT act. It's self-defeating to overthrow authoritarian structures and then put them back up "to defend the revolution."
"The great means for the defense of the revolution remain as ever that of depriving the bourgeoisie of the economic means by which they rule, of arming everyone (until such time as they can be induced to toss their weapons aside as useless and dangerous toys) and of interesting the great mass of the population in victory. If to win, we have to set up the gallows in the public square, I would prefer to lose." - some anarchocommunist who's name I don't remember
Castro is a political opportunist who took advantage of the revolution to impose his state-capitalist dictatorship. See Sam Dolgoff's history of the Cuban revolution for more on this: http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/anarchist_archives/bright/dolgoff/cubanrevolution/toc.html
As with Bush, much of Castro's repression isn't done so much to defeat outside enemies as to control & exploit the domestic population. For a "worker's state" there sure are a lot of worker's in prison. Check out Frank Fernandez's book on Cuban anarchism: http://www.illegalvoices.org/apoc/books/cuban/front.html
