I was addressing your hypothetical, which implied that the severity of the offense and the liklihood that the accused was culpable for it are relevant additional considerations in setting bail. Do I think it's a good thing that we have a generally accepted (outside the confines of LBO) means of getting presumably nasty folks off the streets before they stand trial? Sure. But I doubt that we can say that we're presuming them innocent in anything resembling the way we presume the innocence of the unaccused.
