Don't have time for a response, but this is exactly my impression. For many years, I have read polls that I just don't believe and it is getting worse. Now I used to pass this off as being in Berkeley. But the separation between what I hear daily from a lot of people (20-30+ a day) is entirely different that what I read in polls and what the media claims are to public opinions. The two worlds do not resolve, period.
