Bank To Back Out of Army Travel-Card Program By DAN DAVIDSON
Burdened with tens of millions of dollars in delinquent accounts by Army employees, the nationfs largest consumer bank is backing out of the Armyfs travel-card program. The Bank of America last week informed the Army it would cancel on March 25 all travel cards issued to the Army. Then days later, on March 20, the bank delayed the move, saying it would await a decision by the General Services Administration on how it can exit the program. That could take two months.
Bank of Americafs imminent exit from the program exemplifies the frustration of many over rampant delinquencies that have plagued the governmentfs credit-card program for military members. It also has created serious headaches for the Army.
