Actually, the data shows that domestic abuse is pretty constant in all socioeconomic groups. This does not, however, excuse the link between capitalism and violence. "Anomie" or social alienation as a byproduct of the economic system effects both the rich and the poor. Kind of a scientific way of saying what Friere and others say: that the oppressors are themselves harmed by their own oppression.
