I think there is an objective basis for this "Relentless partisanship" on the part of progressives who want to stick to the DP. There is _no_ content there to stick to, so defense has to be a relentless clinging to the _form_, the abstract Party, abstracted from all contemporary reality and _most_ of past actuality as well.
