Right. Which is the crux of my disagreement with Carrol, who implied that, given the inevitability of salvation, all is permissible. A neat twist on Dostoevsky, don't ya think?

Set aside the Old Testament for a second. Creating sentient beings like us on a planet similar to Earth entails unspeakable suffering. That's the problem of evil. However, some will counter that enduring this suffering is necessary to make us fit for heaven.
