Depends what you mean by violence. I don't have a problem with Black Block type actions, or the sort of violence that typified the US in the early half of the C20th. That's just resistance to force.

However if you're talking about either a violent revolution Cuban style - or destabilising the regime through Weatherman style violence, then I don't think anything useful can be built upon it. The first means a state far too dependant upon the good will of the army - and the dangers of the latter should be pretty self-evident.
