No, 80% is probably about right. If you run down the things socialists agree on- universal health care, union rights, taxing the hell out of the rich, etc. -- at least 20% agree fully on it. Add in the foreign policy issues that Walzer disagrees with, opposition to Israeli occupation and other opposition to US military policy (assuming we define that as left), and that seems about right as an estimate.

There may only be a small number of peoiple who call themselves socialists in this country, but there is a much larger number who support all items on the left agenda. As people note, someone is reading Michael Moore and Chomsky, plus there are all the folks who are just screwed by the system and don't need to read any book to have pretty strong opinions about who is to blame.
