I think he lived in Switzerland until he turned 16 or so. Was he another provincial boy -- Geneva being smaller, as well as presumably less urbane & more Spartan, than Paris -- made good in a great metropolis? I can't picture what Geneva was like in the 18th century.... -- Yoshie
