|| The load that a woman can't handle is an overload for a man as well.

|| The same goes for non-military occupations also.

||

|| The heavy load is an index of the weight of the Empire (Cf.

|| "Diagnosis: Supersize").

Your examples are from the badly trained, badly led conscript army in VN. The present one is professional, better trained, just as badly led but with better hindsight on the problem of the soldier's load (see below). The weight is literally that of the empire, the endless list of overspecified procurements that feed the corporations at the Pentagon's trough. Not even male athletes can carry it unless they are specially trained and fed.

British Soldiers WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE to complete their objectives without adequate battle conditions preparation in training. "Not all...were physically capable of enduring the long marches with heavy loads which were constant features of the Falklands War. An interesting and quite surprising occurrence was the number of physical training cadre that fell out of the marches. In garrison these cadre ran company physical training. It was determined that some of these cadre were unable to complete the force marches with such heavy loads because they were not able to maintain a high-protein diet. The British realized that the intent of physical training is not to develop professional athletes or weight lifters. The purpose of physical conditioning is to develop combat stamina". [20]

There's a lot more about this in the rest of the page.
