Lab Monkeys and drug testing

Humans are used. When pharmaceutical companies apply for an Investigational New Drug Application it is automatically effective in 30 days unless the FDA disapproves. You better hope someone at FDA is reading that shit carefully. In Phase 1 clinical trials, healthy subjects (the poor) are paid a small sum to test drugs. 80% of all drugs fail to make it past Phase 1, so the odds are as a Phase 1 subject you will be taking a substance that the FDA will not approve as safe for human consumption!
