Chisinau. (Interfax) - Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin and Parliamentary Speaker Eugenia Ostapchuk have laid flowers on the Lenin Monument located on the premises of the Expo-Business- Chisinau exhibition center.
Voronin spoke at a rally and noted "the outstanding role of the leader of the international proletariat in the development of civilization." "The ideas of Lenin live and triumph, which is confirmed by the positive results of the Communist Party's year in office in Moldova," Voronin noted.
"The hard heritage of the ten years that have passed since the country's disintegration prevented the communists from fully accomplishing their tasks, but there is an obvious, positive change," Voronin said.
About 200 people, most of them veterans and pensioners, attended the rally and the flower-laying ceremony under the flags of the former Soviet Union.
