But, you also recognize an affinity with the left, among whom are many non-USers who are trying hard to repress their own Schadenfrued--a not undeserved response, let's be clear. We are a bunch of self-absorbed whiney snots who lead relatively charmed lives. ------------ I write:

One of my first impressions from US people after 9/11 was how unbelievably whiney they were. "My God! Evil exists! I had no idea!" Like atrocities don't take place every day all over the world. The Russian reaction was, oh, another in a long series of terrorist attacks, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
