I try everyday to convince my workmates and keep them rational. It is impossible. They will go off on fabulous conspiracy theories, jive crapolla from their neighbors about the CIA, Bible or talk show prophecies (the one place reading the Bible actually helped), nationalistic masculinity shit about the Rangers or some other US military unit, like it was all in the movies... (no dead little girls in the rubble)....just about anything but face up to their own brutal oppressions. Forget ever reading anything like Ali or Rashid.
It is sickening what they will not confront. I listen to this `your buddy Oshama, blah, blah, blah' all day long. Twenty years ago in another shop, in galaxy far far away, it was the same. Back then it was `your buddy Kadafi...' or `your pal Muammar...' Then when Iran-Contra broke, well nobody was interested... Well, mistakes were made.
