I knew Max reasonably well when I lived in Oakland-- he was around the Committees of Correspondence and Crossroads magazine, which many fellow activists then worked on. I'd say his politics is quite a bit reformed from Line of March, especially on practice of leftists day-to-day. He spent quite a bit of time when I talked with him noting the nutsy parts of LOM politics over the years.
I haven't read the book yet but I look forward to it.
