The DOJ site has some good (bad) stuff. I recommend:

http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/publicdocs/11-1prior/11-1prior.htm

Particularly "Klaus Barbie and the United States Government: A Report to the Attorney General of the United States". Their material is 778 pages, although the Ryan report has a well-written (whitewash) report on the matter.

To summarize: Army intelligence and the CIA used ex-Gestapo agent Klaus Barbie (whose main skill was torture, and who had deported partisans, Jewish children and others to death camps around the Lyon, France area) after the war even though they knew he was Gestapo and began to get inklings of what war crimes he had committed while they employed him. American civilian authorities (HICOG) and French authorities asked US Army intelligence if they knew where Barbie was, and the ones controlling Barbie and their commanders lied and said they didn't. Then Army CIC and the CIA contacted Nazi-friendly Vatican priests and bishops, and sent him (and other Nazis) to South America so that he could avoid prosecution by the French for war crimes. In France, he pciked up where he left off, torturing leftist dissidents for right-wing Latin American governments while maintaining contact with the CIA.

The Ryan report tries to whitewash things but is pretty damning anyway. Marcel Ophuls, who directed "The Sorrow and the Pity" has an excellent 4-hour documentary on the Barbie affair, "Hotel Terminus". Excellent, excellent movie, with interviews of the former army intelligence officers, including Erhard Dabringhaus, the whistle blower, along with interviews with French partisans, Jews and partisans who were beaten by Barbie and who had sometimes seen their family deported for death by Barbie, Vatican liasions, Latin American dissidents whose torture Barbie was involved in and others. Also, since this report and the documentary came out, the CIA finally admitted that it had been in contact with Barbie, who was hiding in Bolivia/Peru from French/German authorities while he was torturing leftist dissidents for the right-wing Bolivian junta, all along, until his death.
