-Wall Street's favorite economist, Ed Hyman, worries is this morning's -bulletin that "elections are coming up with a possible rout for -Republicans." If Ed is worried, should we be happy? Nathan?
Hopefully it means that the Dems will be able to hold onto the Senate-- although that could be hard with tough races for a number of key folks like Wellstone.
But the word "rout" is ridiculous for this election-- one of the effects of the high-tech area is a level of precision in political gerrymandering that promises that almost every Congressional race is essentially a foregone conclusion; under current political conditions, a "rout" will be a gain or loss of ten seats by either party in the House.
