Don't forget, we're talking about a country that's about the size of Kentucky and has about 275,000 people (1/4 of Manhattan?) (more than 150,000 of them are Internet users, making Iceland the most wired country on the planet per-capita). Getting the majority of them to do any one thing has to be easy.
But: they do have 87 airports (12 paved), and Iceland Air has 12 jets in service! And no railways. Only 0.07% of the electricity they use is generated by fosil fuel.
However, they are a US Military Protectorate.
