The bone of contention is US imperialism, not the polymorphous perverse "US culture in general" (if one can define such a thing at all).

It's not as though one would perforce oppose noh, sushi, haiku, nihongo, etc. if one opposed Japanese imperialism. The same goes for US imperialism. -- Yoshie
