Can't ask for more than that. But I just remembered an alternative option that might be shorter and more pleasant. There is an excellent article in the November Harpers by Joy Gordon called "Cool War: Economic Sanctions as a Weapon of Mass Destruction" that does very a eloquent job of laying out what's wrong with comprehensive economic sanctions. She doesn't spend much time on what a purely military sanctions regime would look like but I think it's not hard to imagine in relief: it would be the same regime, with all its capacities, but completely limited to what she calls the "1051 list:" the list of goods that require notice to UN Weapons inspectors. And it should be clear from the article how much smaller that is than what is now being blocked.
