Such hypotheses are either aggressively ignorant of the dynamic of U.S. history and culture or they are smple vulgar racism. I don't think much slack should be given those who mouth nonsense about the "culture of violence," the "culture of poverty," etc. They are, if one is charitable, serious ignorance.
