Let's not forget that, in the long run, the main drag on the warmakers was the economy and big business's turn against the war. When Nixon questioned the patriotism of those who opposed his plans for a wider war, I.F. Stone, in his weekly, wrote to the effect that if Nixon were looking for traitors, he could start on Wall Street.
