Why not? I say "Don't vote for the DP." Most of the people in the local anti-war group do. How am I holding them "responsible"? My intention is that sometime in the future they will see that that position makes sense. But I feel no need to "condemn" them.
In fact the (abstract) separation of person and act is my understanding of "principled criticism."
To use Ollman's terminology, I see no need for approval or disapproval to take the form of a moral judgment.
