Russian investments in US economy rocket
Moscow, Russia, Nov 12, 2002 (RosBusinessConsulting via COMTEX) -- In the first nine months of 2002, Russia invested $8.462bn in the US economy. This is 10 times as much as US investments in Russia over the reported period, which amounted to $841m. As the Russian State Statistics Committee reported,
the total amount of Russian investments in foreign economies amounted to $16.3bn n the first three quarters of 2002, gaining 21.4 percent as compared
to the corresponding period of 2001. In the reported period, investments in the USA were $8.462bn, in Cyprus - $2.541bn, in British Virgin Islands - $1.175bn, in the Netherlands - $456m, in Lithuania - $294m, in Iran - $89m, and in Belarus - $87m. As of the end of September 2002, Russia's accumulated
investments in foreign economies amounted to $4.05bn, including $2.586bn in direct investments, $168m in portfolio investments, and $1.296bn in other investments.
