The article I referred to stressed the burnout caused by a sort of frantic hurry. My memory (or retrieval) can be fairly blurred, but very seldom have I thought I remembered something in a text that wasn't there (as opposed to failing to remember something that was there.

We're (very slowly) sorting, discarding, saving stuff in our basement from the '60s and '70s. I'll dig up the article sooner or later, but Lerner has been so universally despised by practically everyone I've ever met that knew him that I'm in no rush to buttress my memory with exact citation. The PLP left a better flavor in the mouths of many than Lerner did. (Jerry Rubin ran him a close second in ticking people off.)
