The Mood at Work: Anger and Anxiety By STEVEN GREENHOUSE

[...]

For the first time in two decades, most workers surveyed said they would vote to join a union if they could, looking to unions as a way to gain coveted protections on the job.

That's good news. The question is, are there people out there trying to help and organize these people?

The UFCW is having a nationwide rally/protest in front of Wal-Marts nationwide this Thursday. For all you New Yorkers in NYC or Long Island, this Thursday evening there will be one from 4PM to 7PM in East Meadow, Nassau, Long Island, New York in front of the Walmart at the Stop-n-Shop Parking Lot at 2425 Hempstead Turnpike. Go to http://www.rwdsulocal338.org/news/wmrally.htm for more details.

For those outside of New York, you can check http://www.walmartdayofaction.com to find out about local Wal-Mart protest/rallies on this day of action by the UFCW all over the country. Wal-Mart really is a big enemy of organized labor in the US, they were a big boost in passing the work-for-less law (which passed 51%/49%) in Oklahoma recently which more-or-less drives unions out of Oklahoma.
