Al-Ahram has some very good articles when dealing with the Palestinian/Israeli issue and in non-Egyptian matters, but the Egyptian Government holds stock in the paper and appoints its editor-in-chief, so it follows government line pretty closely.
For supplementary news from Egypt in English, there is also the Cairo Times, which has independent ownership, though obviously they still have to deal with the government censorhip issues. http://www.cairotimes.com/
