CALL FOR AN INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY DEMONSTRATION ON 12/10/02 FBI Building - 500 S. Front Street, [Columbus, OH], 4PM - 6PM
For those people who can join us during the day, we will be having a march starting at the Bricker Federal Building (200 N. High Street), proceeding to the Statehouse, and then to City Center Mall where there will be a reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Gather at 1:30 SHARP on the corner of Spring & High. If you cannot make the march, please join us at the FBI Building on Front Street at 4PM.
WHEREAS, On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
WHEREAS, In our current political climate, it is apparent that the United States is in full violation of at least 18 of these articles
WHEREAS, We know it is our right and duty as freedom living citizens to both expose and fight against such violations,
WHEREAS, The FBI is an essential tool of State oppression,
WHEREAS, It is understood that the while FBI is only one of the many instutions of such repression, it is, in this time of secrecy, one of the few organizations that we as citizens are actually allowed some knowledge of.
WHEREAS, The FBI, with its long history of political and social repression, is a very public and glaring example of all the other abuses the State perpetrates the People.
THEREFORE, We are calling for everyone to join with us on December 10, 2002 - the 54th Anniversary of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights - at the FBI Building (500 S. Front St, Columbus, OH) at 4PM.
It is here that we will demand an end to the unjust "War on Terrorism," which is really just a war on democracy and freedom.
It is here that we will call for an end to the escalation of the War on Iraq, which we understand is just a war about imperialism and oil.
We hope that everyone who agrees with this statement will join us on December 10 in saying...
STOP THE SECRECY! STOP THE POLICE STATE! STOP ALL POLITICAL AND RACIST DETENTIONS! STOP THE HARRASMENT OF ACTIVISTS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR! GIVE US OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES BACK!
DROP THE FASCIST BUSH ADMINISTRATION!
We support a diversity of tactics for this demonstration - we respect everyone's right to be out on the streets and show their opposition in whatever manner they deem appropriate. This would include support for a permitted and legal rally, as well as autonomous affinity group actions. It is important that everyone join together in solidarity - only when our voices are heard as one will our demands be met.
