So, what happened immediately after the WTC fell and word got round some fundies from the ME did it? The authorities were damn quick to condemn any sort of "private revenge" against Muslims. And why would Bush and/or his handlers put him at a mosque to show Muslims weren't the enemy? To forestall random acts of revenge on "inopportune targets", as well as boost ratings by getting all understanding and fuzzy.

They knew the chances of lynchings were pretty high right after 9-11.
