N. Kathryn Hayles' "How We Became Posthuman" is pretty good on how cybernetics birthed the ideologies of postmodernsm. In many ways, the entire post-Asimov science fiction culture is one long meditation on the wired or multinational subject -- especially Burroughs' "Nova Express" and Gibson's "Neuromancer". If you're teaching a class, I'd recommend clips from Anno's "Evangelion", where the human/machine interface goes completely wild.
