[Presenter] [Communist leader] Gennadiy Zyuganov is now obliged to look for excuses because of [emigre tycoon] Boris Berezovskiy, who has spoken about a possible union with the Communists. The Communist party leader says the prominent businessman is so far in no way connected with the left-wing opposition. Zyuganov explained this by the fact that Berezovskiy, who now lives in London, is too remote from the real affairs of the people's patriotic forces in Russia.

[Zyuganov] Why do you impose him on us as an ally? Berezovskiy has been sent out of the country, he works and lives in London. He understands perfectly well that his great interest lies in Russia. He has more influence on the Kremlin and the Family [Yeltsin's family]. He has never had any influence on our movement, nor can he, in effect. We have a broad union of state and patriotic forces, which has its own programme and its goals. Berezovskiy has probably realized that he was wrong to support Yeltsin, or to help Kasyanov's government to establish itself. He now sees that the present team doesn't let anyone work, including himself.

[Presenter] Zyuganov did not specify if the Communists-Berezovskiy union has any prospects in future.
