Sorry to post so much today!

Looks like the Turkish Labor parties don't like the idea of Kurdish statehood in a post war Iraq (and are opposed to actions against Iraq)....Hmmm.....

Turkish Labor Unions Are Against Operation And A New Formation In Northern Iraq

ANKARA - Confederation of Turkish Workers Labor Unions (Turk-Is) Executive Board stated on Tuesday that they were against an operation on Iraq which would be launched by the United States and Britain without the decision of United Nations (U.N.). The executive board issued a written statement and asked Iraq to implement U.N decisions and called on solution of the problem by peaceful means.

The written statement said, ''Turk-Is absolutely opposes to the initiatives regarded with formation of a Kurdish state in the Middle East with the support of the United States and the European Union (EU). Turk-Is does not want this step to be taken which will start another confusion in addition to Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the region, and which will make all the balances in the region upside down.'' Turk-Is said they called on preservation of Iraq's territorial integrity.

Noting that international agreements envisaged respect to territorial integrity of countries, Turk-Is statement said, Turkey has always shown the determination not to give a piece of its soil. Formation of a Kurdish state in Northern Iraq with the support of the EU and the United States, which will be a tool of their Middle East policy, will spread the disagreement to the whole region, will turn the region into a lake of blood, and will mean blood, fire, death, poverty, hunger and exploitation.
