sex as more urgent than caution or sense, undeniably visible statements about the overwhelming priority of pleasure, risking immediacy,

on the other hand - the power to risk someone else on the stake of your own desirability, a restoration of (however vicious) an agency in the face of (ugly) impending death

of course it's a big deal for different people in different ways a kind of ultimate seizing the moment and of course it's intense, exciting, and therefore done by people
