I have not heard anyone else in the Spanish left who has said anything else justifying the 911 atrocity.

Doubtless one can find other marxists, anarchists, and radical leftists who have said similar things; I imagine if one looked long enough one could find a marxist or two who claim that after the early unpublished mss. marx deserted marxism and that africans are biologically incapable of socialism. One can always find someone under any label saying anything you want to make up. And when anyone who objects that the example is can be cleverly answered by asking, do you deny that _any_ marxists believe _that_? Questions always are a convenient way of lying anyhow, along the line of the old chestnut, have you stopped beating your wife.

My objection to Butler was _never_ that _no_ marxists fit her description; my objection was that it was intellectually dishonest to refuse to give _any_indication of which marxists in particular, or to indicate that there were major differences on the point.

Martha Gimenez is a Marxist. Does she deny the importance of gender or sexual preference?

Barbara Foley is a Marxist. Does she deny the importance of gender and sexual preference?

If the answer to either of thes questions is No, then Butler is actually lying with the traditional dishonest academic's ploy of vague generalization without analysis.

And I think, moreover, that this is a common ploy in Butler's writing. She is fundamentally dishonest in her professional conduct.
