> Campesinos in Brazil, gauchos in Argentina
Actually, campesinos would be found in Argentina and other Spanish-speaking countries. In Brazil they would be camponeses. Landless rural workers there are known as boias-frias (cold lunches, because they carry their food with them to work). And southern Brazilians are also known as Gaúchos. They tend to resent any identification with their Argentinian counterparts.
But yes, these people fare badly under neoliberalism, specially the boias-frias.
