I've found that most people are attracted to confidence; wild, dangerous men are nothing if not confident (I'm more partial to "women gone wild"). And let's face it, wildness is fun. You seem like a decent person so don't let the bastards get you down.

I find myself strangely titillated by Carrol's confident pronouncements and by his enumerations of the various laws of nature, so while I promise myself that I'll ignore his e-mails - b/c I suspect his negativity is bad for me - I end up being drawn back again and again.

Could someone please explain why some on the left are such suckers for bad boys like Slobadan Milosevic and Saddam Hussein?

Peter
