US to provide AIDS assistance to Vietnam
AP
HANOI: The United States signed an agreement with Vietnam on Monday to provide up to $20 million over the next five years for AIDS prevention and care, the US Embassy said.
Just over 9,000 new cases of HIV infection were logged in Vietnam during the first seven months of the year, bringing the total number of known HIV carriers in this country of 79 million people to 52,434. But health experts have said the actual number could be twice that.
