BTW, this is a good illustration of just how dependent most of the other
former USSR republics are on Russia. Russia can practically annihilate
Georgia simply by withholding aid. When Georgia tried to make it more
difficult to get Russian visas, they had mass protestsin the streets.
Independence has not worked out well for that country. 10% of Georgia's GDP
comes from sales of Boizumi mineral water, almost entirely in Russia, and
some 30% of the population has emigrated to its northern neighbor, legally
and not.
