I would say this is true of many big, multiethnic countries (one 
particularly whopping one comes to mind, with its messianism/persecution 
complex, communitarianism/rampant corruption, love of gargantuanism and 
collectivism and regard for individual difference. Come to think of it, 
there are a lot of similarities between US and Russian culture).
