What a disgusting piece. Most of the pro-war liberals of 35 years ago,
who excoriated those (like Chomsky) who contended that the attack on
Vietnam was not a blunder but a crime, have long since covered their
tracks and altered their resumes. But here they are redivivus, once again
shaking their heads from the weight of greater realism, and sadly
admitting that it's necessary of give war a chance.
Unable to refute what Chomsky actually said about Afghanistan (or Kosovo),
the author is reduced to attacking his infallibility, probably another
safe target under this intellectual Powell doctrine.
