If there is no "US" other than the simple sum of people who live in a
geographical space we call the United States, then what is the "it"
to which the people pledge their allegiance?
What then do you mean when you say "US foreign policy"? Is it the
policy of "the people who live in the United States and pledge it
their allegiance"? I sincerely hope not!
