Once I was doing door-to-door soliciting for CISPES and made a bad selection of a street to canvass. The first or second house I stopped at, a rather shabby one, the woman who answered listened to my spiel, said that she was sorry she couldn't afford to give anything, but gave me a dollar to help cover my expenses! (She worked as a janitor at some building.) The next block the houses were better looking -- and I didn't get a damn thing from any of them. You never can tell.
